Hitting the Road!

Almost everything is packed into the trailer and there are only a few items remaining to put in the vehicles. We are ready to head out in the morning. Our first stop will be Monroe, Louisiana to visit a friend over New Year's and from there... onward to Florida and our new life aboard the S/V Iron Jack!! There were a lot of times in the last 6 months that both of us had doubts this day would ever arrive... but now it's time to 'hitch up the horses' and head for our new home. Adventure beckons!

LAND SOLD----FLORIDA HERE WE COME

Finally the airstrip is sold and the last of the garage sales are done. Now the hangar is open to anyone who wants the left overs.
The new owners are excitedly making their plans to finish the hangar home to their needs and desires.
Jeanne is busily sorting and packing plastic containers with what we "think" we will need. A lot of memories have disappeared as things that we thought we would keep forever are now long gone. Lots of pictures, mementoes, trophies, books (LOTSA BOOKS), craft projects, man tools(BOO HOO) have left never to be seen again. Hopefully we have saved what we will need on the boat. Looking at the containers I KNOW it will not fit on the boat, but we'll have more to sell and give away before finally leaving Cocoa for points south, then east, then north to the Bradenton area for the spring and summer of next year.
Many changes and addition will be done this winter to make the boat more cruising friendly. Among the list is solar power, isolation transformer, new nav equipment, updated charts and safety equipment. The list grows as I sit here typing the lastest news to our, at present, one fan, Maratha Warner, who has inspired us to get with the program and get out there and enjoy the world through sailing. Zee has also been a great friend via the internet and a hoot to follow on her blogs and on Sailmonster.com.
Jeanne and I hope to arrive in Florida before the new year begins. Wish us luck and a safe trip..
